FINALLY CAPELIN!!!

We actually saw capelin today! Finally! They were in close to the beach, not rolling yet but they are here! There’s Eastern wind forecasted for Thursday which will bring fog and drizzle to Trinity Bay, the real capelin weather! I bet they will start rolling then. Had great trips today with 6 feeding minke whales, 3 icebergs, puffins, gannets, guillemonts and murres.

Lots of Action

Had spectacular trips today with 3 icebergs, 3 humpback whales, 3 minke whales, 6 harbour porpoises, puffin, bald eagles, gannets, guillemonts and murres. One whale treated us to quite a show of breaching, tail lobbing and flipper slapping.

June 25th

Another chilly but amazing day with 5 humpbacks, 2 minkes, 2 icebergs, bald eagles, gannets, murres, guillemonts, and puffins.

This is likely the beginning of the first of three groups of humpbacks that we will see this season. Whether or not they will stay or migrate through will depend on how far off the capelin are. We sure hope that this cooler weather and the rain that is coming tonight will bring the capelin in so the whales can feast!
